The Brahma is said to have developed by crossing several Asiatic breeds like the Chinese Shanghai, commonly known as Cochin Chicken, and the Chittagong Chicken. On account of its fully feathered shanks and feet and a red pea comb, it is considered a fancy breed type. These birds are extremely hardy in hot and cold climates. They are also recognized for their calm and gentle disposition, going broody frequently, and being a good winter layer of extra large brown eggs. Our buff laced brahmas are fairly rare and extra attractive, with honey colored scales on white lacing.
