They offer more protection than a standard hockey or lacrosse glove, and are best used in drilling applications or light freeplay. They are a cost-effective choice for those looking for some hand protection. Many people choose to use these with single handed weapons as well, including on the buckler hand when doing sword and buckler. As stated above, they will not be sufficient for hard sparring with ANY weapon, including single-handed options. Why do we have them?
